Blast Off: True Stories from the Final Frontier takes the viewer on a rocket ride of a history lesson detailing the greatest and most perilous moments in man's struggle to break the bonds of gravity. Viewers relive several historic adventures, from the triumph of the first man on the moon to the tragedy of the Challenger shuttle and the global effort to rescue the ill-fated Soviet space station Mir. The camera follows leading cosmonauts and astronauts along life-threatening orbital paths and splashes down with them in fiery descents. This action-packed 104-minute program discusses technological accomplishments, terrifying near-misses, and triumphant discovery beyond the veil of this atmosphere.
