Part of the Biography television series from A&E, this documentary reviews the career and personal lives of explorers Merriweather Lewis and William Clark. Lewis and Clark traveled across the uncharted wilderness to the Pacific Ocean from 1804-06. They illustrated maps and drew pictures of the habitat they encountered. This became the basis of what was known at the time about the land west of the Mississippi. Lewis had been best known for being Thomas Jefferson's private secretary while Clark had fought under General Anthony Wayne. Lewis later became Governor of the Louisiana Territory wile Clark served as his superintendent of Indian affairs. Later Clark held the post of Governor in Missouri as well as being surveyor general for several states.
