The story is set at a British holiday camp, where a troupe of third-rate entertainers do their best to keep the patrons happy, staging musical revues, beauty contests and the like. Essentially a comedy, the film has an inner lining of pathos: like Archie Rice in The Entertainer, the main characters are losers but won't admit it. Reg Varney and Diane Coupland top the cast.
