This anime takes place during what is called the Dark Century, when humankind is living under the rule of a devil called Vandel, who has the power to control the malicious monsters and demons that inhabit the earth and terrorize human beings. There is a force that can rival the Vandels, however, and that is the Vandel Busters. This group of rebels fights for humanity against the Vandels with a power beyond the comprehension of most people. A young boy named Beet, like a lot of boys, would like to grow up to be a Vandel Buster, but during an encounter with them accidentally causes their demise. The Vandel Busters are near death when they imbue five mystical weapons with their life forces and hand them over to Beet. Now a young man, Beet sets about to right the wrong he inadvertently caused in his boyhood, and to finish the task of the Vandel Busters for good.
