synopsis
The 12th and final episode of the critically acclaimed series Battlefield Vietnam deals with the twilight of the Vietnam conflict. While the photograph of the "last chopper out" remains a definitive image of the fall of Saigon, it actually began three years prior with a massive ground assault by 30,000 North Vietnamese regulars that buckled the already fragile border. Only the thunderous B-52 bombing runs courtesy of the U.S.A.F. saved the total collapse of the country during the "spring offensive" of 1972. However, with the eventual withdrawal of U.S. forces, the writing was on the wall and the once proud city fell.
