Synopsis by Michael Hastings
Two of the most legendary musicians of the 1990s team up for a performance of 17th century standards in this unique musical documentary, co-directed by the equally legendary filmmaker Albert Maysles. The film, which originally premiered on PBS, follows soprano Kathleen Battle and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis as they rehearse and pontificate on the significance of the Bach and Handel pieces they eventually perform with the St. Luke Chamber Orchestra.
