Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Csaba Kael's adaptation of the famous opera, Bank Ban was shot by revered cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond on (with one exception) actual location. Set during the reign of Endre the Second (Kolos Kovats), the story line follows a variety of intrigues among the powerful. Endre's brother Otto (Denes Gulyas) attempts to bed Melinda (Andrea Rost), who is married to the title character (Atilla Kiss B.), a viceroy. Bank's brother Petur (Sandor Solymon-Nagy) attempts to convince Bank to join a rebellion, but Bank is loyal to Endre. He changes his mind, however, upon learning of Otto's machinations.
