Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Filmed in Denmark, Ballerina stars Kirsten Simone as prima ballerina of the Royal Danish Ballet (which indeed she was, in real life). Mette Honigen costars as Simone's protegee, who is so shy that she considers quitting the ballet before she even begins. With Simone's help, Honigen makes a successful debut during an out-of-town engagement. Among the ballets featured are Swan Lake and Coppelia. Ballerina premiered as a two-part installment of TV's Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, originally telecast February 27 and March 6, 1966; the two parts were combined into one and released theatrically in Europe.
