synopsis
Youngish bus driver Tom Hanks is engaged to wealthy Tawny Kitean, much to the discomfort of Tawny's uptight father George Grizzard, who regards his potential son-in-law as a loser. Tom's buddies throw a bachelor party for the groom-to-be, replete with booze and hookers. Meanwhile, Tawny decides to test Tom's fidelity by showing up at the party, disguised as a trollop. And meanwhile, Grizzard conspires with Tawny's ex-boyfriend Robert Prescott to discredit Hanks in the girl's eyes. A "screwball comedy" for the eighties, Bachelor Party is unable to sustain its comic momentum, though its opening scenes are quite enjoyable. Besides, the film shows us the sort of dues Tom Hanks was obliged to pay before becoming an two-time Oscar winner.
