synopsis
Mariot (Jean-Claude Bouilion) is a reporter trying to find his missing ex-wife. Also assigned to do a story on hitchhiking, he meets the American woman Stella (Prudence Harrington) and the two have a brief affair. Mariot eventually discovers that his wife has died of a drug overdose and her body was disposed of by Arab diplomats, who also try to kill the investigative reporter. The news of the world, with everyday violence and political turbulence, is constantly mentioned as Mariot gathers the facts for his newspaper. He is less aware of his own feelings than of world events, but manages to admit to himself his love affairs have been one-sided.
