Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez impersonates the famous architect and art theorist Antonio Gaudi i Cornet in this Spanish documentary which shows many of Gaudi's Barcelona creations and uses passages from his writings to reveal the significance of these buildings and constructions. Gaudi (1852-1926) is probably best known in the U.S. for his outrageous Sagrada Familia cathedral design (it is still under construction). His works, like those of the other Catalan architects who were in sympathy with him, went much further than the contemporaneous Art Nouveau movement in their wholesale and novel use of organic forms.
