Synopsis by Mark Deming

A seemingly mismatched couple discover they have more in common than they imagined in this drama from director Alix Delaporte. Tony (Gregory Gadebois) is a fisherman living and working in a coastal village in Normandy who meets Angele (Clotilde Hesme) through a personal ad. Their first date doesn't go well -- he doesn't care for her open sexuality, and she's put off by his gruff nature -- but despite it all, they find they're interested in one another, and end up seeing one another again. In time, they strike up a friendship that grows into love, as Tony gives her a place to stay and makes her part of his business, selling his catch. While Angele understands that Tony has had to deal with personal tragedy, he doesn't know the full nature of her checkered past, and is surprised when he learns just how much baggage she had to carry. Angele et Tony (aka Angele and Tony) was an official selection at the 2010 Venice Film Festival.
