Synopsis by Janiss Garza

The patriotic title of this routine light comedy was especially appealing to audiences of the World War I era. Monte Boggs (Jack Devereaux) is a recent Harvard graduate and son of a pickle king (Walter Walker). Father Boggs is desperate to break into the aristocracy and wants his son to marry a girl with a title. Monte is not interested, since he loves Hazel Stanley, a show girl (Winifred Allen). Hazel, however, is dismayed because Monte's wealth has left him pretty much useless. After an argument with his father, Monte leaves home and complains to Hazel. She comes up with a plan -- the pair marry immediately, and since she has an inheritance of her own, she corners the vinegar market. To stay in business, Old Man Boggs is forced into fierce negotiations with Hazel. When they finally come to an agreement, she reveals that Monte is her husband. Boggs decides she is an acceptable daughter-in-law and all is well.
