Along the Rio Grande (1941)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

A tuneful and reasonably exciting entry in RKO's initial Tim Holt series, Along the Rio Grande benefits from the presence of pretty song stylist Betty Jane Rhodes, whose rendition of "Buttons and Bows" would become a major radio hit in the late '40s. Rhodes was just beginning her screen career, which was mainly spent in World War II Paramount musicals, but was already a popular radio and nightclub vocalist. Ray Whitley, who also contributed the title tune, plays the recurring role of Smokey for the first time in the series.
