synopsis
Screenwriter John Sayles manages to both honor and spoof all those "mutant monster flicks" of old in Alligator. Here's the premise: when a kid flushes a baby gator down the toilet, the little lizard ends up alive and well in the sewers of Los Angeles. An urban legend, you say? You'll think differently when you see the alligator grow to humongous proportions, thanks to an illegal chemical dumping. Teaming up to curb the monster's carnivorous activities is police officer Robert Forster and beauteous female scientist Robin Riker. Think what Alligator could have been if Sayles had directed as well as scripted!
