synopsis
The year is 1916; the place, a small English town. During the dedication ceremony for a new bridge, the townsfolk are shocked to see the body of a woman floating in the river. Well, technically speaking, not everyone is shocked. Henry Dow (Hume Cronyn), the mayor of the town, assumes that the body is that of an old acquaintance, Miss Wilkinson (Doris Lloyd). And Henry should know: he killed Miss Wilkinson himself.
