Synopsis by Robert Firsching

This macabre horror film directed by cult filmmaker Jesus Franco appeared in two rather different versions. The Spanish original stars Emma Cohen as Ana, whose announcement of her impending marriage drives her unbalanced father (Howard Vernon) to suicide. Traumatized, Ana abandons her fiancee and tries to start her life over, only to find that her father is speaking to her from beyond the grave. Ana cannot escape the past, and voices tell her to murder anyone who interferes with her strange relationship with the ghost. Philippe Lemaire, Francoise Brion, Robert Woods and Waldemar Wohlfahrt co-star, while Franco appears as a pianist. In the butchered 1974 French re-edit, Ana's father is replaced with a lesbian sister named Marie (Lina Romay), who also commits suicide upon learning of the wedding. Monique Delauanay and Ramon Ardid co-star in this version, which is basically a softcore sex film completely lacking the haunting atmosphere of the original, although Franco also filmed the inserts.
