Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A writer whose humanistic works express his political engagement, concern for the lower classes, and love for his native land of Khuzestan, leading Iranian novelist Ahmad Mahmoud six novels and nine short stories over the course of his fifty year career. In this documentary, filmmaker Bahman Maghsoudlou draws on extended on camera interviews with the author to explore the many thoughts and concerns that informed Mahmoud's best works. An intimate portrait of a beloved writer overlooked as an anti-revolutionary near the end of his career, Ahmad Mahmoud: A Noble Novelist also examines the severe hardships faced by many Iranian writers.
