Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Adapted from the novel by Blaine Marchand, the Canadian miniseries African Journey starred Jason Blicker as teenager Luke Novak. The product of a broken home, Luke was uprooted from his native Canada to live in East Africa with his father (Allan Jordan). After an uncomfortable period of adjustment, Luke found a permanent friend in the form of 16-year-old African Themba (Jesese Mungoshi). Co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada and Film Works, the location-filmed African Journey lasted through six, half-hour episodes, which later aired as part of the PBS anthology Wonderworks, and were also incorporated into a brace of limited-release theatrical features.
