Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Journalist Robert Ruark, whose novels and essays about the "new" Africa sparked both adulation and controversy in the 1950s and 1960s, provided the continuity and narration for the feature-length documentary Africa Adventure. Ruark's contribution is of greater value than the unimaginative color cinematography of Chester Kronfield. The film follows "great white hunters" Harry Selby and John Sutton as they track such quarry as a water buffalo, a leopard, a rhino and a bull elephant. It goes without saying, perhaps, that the film will not endear itself to the pro-conservation contingent. Africa Adventure was distributed in the U.S. by RKO Pathe, the newsreel division of RKO Radio Pictures.
