synopsis
This program is part of a PBS animated children's series which examines some character qualities for young ones to develop. The episodes are based on the best-selling anthology The Book of Virtues, by former U.S. Education Secretary William Bennett. Annie and Zach are the show's animated human stars, who learn of virtue from their animal mentors, whose names -- Aristotle, Socrates, Aurora, and Plato -- reflect their philosophical nature. This episode considers the virtue of compassion through illustrative stories, including "The Good Samaritan," "The Legend of the Dipper," "Androcles and the Lion," and "The New Colossus."
