Synopsis by Janiss Garza

After going to school in America Marama Thurston (Edith Roberts) returns to her Fiji home to take care of the rubber plantation belonging to her father (Dick Cummings). She finds out to her dismay that she is actually half-native (what would nowadays add a mildly exotic flavor could ruin a girl's life in the silent era). As a result she spurns the advances of the one available white man on the island, Templeton (Jack Perrin), because she feels he couldn't possibly respect her. Instead Marama decides to marry native ruler Ratu Ma Dri (Noble Johnson). But at the last minute she realizes she can't leave her "civilized" ways and a fight between white man and native ensues. Then a typhoon blows and a tidal wave crashes over the island. Marama and Templeton somehow survive all this and are saved by Templeton's uncle, whose yacht is conveniently passing through. Ridiculous as this story sounds now, the picture was nevertheless entertaining.
