Part of the ABC News Nightline series, which features favorite episodes from anchorman Ted Koppel's award-winning television news program, ABC News Nightline: Austrian President Kurt Waldheim contains an interview with the foreign leader. In this episode, Ted Koppel is joined by ABC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Pierre Salinger. Together, the reporters interview Waldheim, asking a series of difficult questions. Originally aired on February 15, 1988, the episode targets Waldheim at a highly controversial time -- the world had just discovered that he concealed knowledge of certain WWII atrocities.
