John Fenton (George Walsh) is having his fortune told when the medium spies the cops heading her way. She tells him to leave, and he makes his way up the fire escape and winds up in an apartment where a young man, Gordon (William H. Budd), is about to commit suicide. It turns out that he has stolen some jewels from a safe belonging to his uncle (Warren Cook), and it is he who is being pursued by the police. The man's sister, Belle (Virginia Hammond), is also there, and Fenton offers to help them. Some crooks are also after the jewels, and it takes a lot of work and a lot of fisticuffs to get the jewels restored to their real owner -- who turns out to be Fenton himself.
