synopsis
A Hold-Up in the Calabria appears to have been a French spin on the popular American subject The Great Train Robbery. A gang of Gallic highwaymen makes plans to hold up a coach then rob and kill the passengers. Some suspense is generated by showing the unsuspecting passengers, a family of four preparing to embark upon their fatal journey. As the brigands descend upon the coach, the family patriarch and a faithful servant escape to seek help. The villains prepare to "do in" the rest of the family, but their plans are scotched by the arrival of the authorities, who set fire to the bandits' hideout.
