Produced in the CBC's Vancouver studios, A Hatful of Music was a summer replacement for the Sunday-night series The Joan Fairfax Show. A variety show in the true sense of the world, the series spotlighted musical selections for every possible taste, presented before an enthusiastic studio audience. Though most of the talent was Vancouver-based, the series also featured an impressive gallery of celebrity guests from both Canada and the U.S. A Hatful of Music was broadcast from July 24 to September 25, 1960.
