Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) tells Kate (Sarah Wynter) why he's taking her from CTU, and asks if she's willing to accept the risk to help him prevent a war. Then Jack realizes that Yusuf (Donnie Keshawarz) is following them. He's figured out what's going on, and he offers to help Jack find the evidence. Carrie (Lourdes Benedicto) tells Tony (Carlos Bernard) that Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth) helped Jack get Kate out. Tony confronts Michelle and she denies it. Tony tells Carrie to track all of Michelle's calls and emails. Jack leaves Kate in the car while he goes to meet with Wallace (Gregg Henry), who turns out to be the seventh man from the commando team at the airport, who killed his own comrades. Wallace tells Jack that the people who hired him are now trying to kill him. He'll give Jack the evidence that the recording of Ali was phony, if Kate uses her father's Department of Defense privileges to charter a flight and get him out of the country. Unfortunately, Kate will have to go with him, and Wallace lets Jack know he'll kill her once they reach their destination. Wallace secretly signals his outside man to grab Kate, but Yusuf stops him. Jack forces Wallace to play it his way, but soon, the whole group is under attack. Lynne (Michelle Forbes) and Mike (Jude Ciccolella) both believe that Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) is putting too much faith in the instincts of a single agent.
