2 x 2 (1946)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Largely inactive during WW II, the Hungarian film industry managed to turn out a few pictures, though it was always an uphill climb. 2 x 2, for example, was started in 1944, but wasn't completed until the following year. Even then it was withheld from release because its leading actor was a pro-Nazi who'd fled to Germany at the end of the war. All of the scenes involving this actor had to be refilmed with a different performer, resulting in some startling continuity gaps. What was left was a nearly plotless romantic tale, technically several years behind the Hollywood product of the same era.
