Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Writer-director Lone Scherfig’s drama unfolds in New York City during the winter. A mother (Zoe Kazan) and her two sons get by on the kindness of strangers as she attempts to evade her abusive husband – who is also a policeman. She befriends other individuals who are also experiencing personal crises at a Russian restaurant named ‘Winter Palace’.
