Presented in widescreen format and English Dolby Surround Sound, this title offers up an acceptable, if rather lackluster, transfer. Grainy visuals and mediocre sound put a damper on this well-received and award-winning film. The colors appear a bit washed out, which might suit the dark ambience of the film at times, but a crisper image would have been preferable. Extras on this release are also lacking, with simply a chapter search and cast and crew biographies available. Subtitles are available in English, Spanish, and French, as is closed-captioning. Fans of this film may hope for a remaster of this DVD release in the future, hopefully with less grain, improved audio, and sharper contrasts. |
