A veteran scenario writer who wrote early one- and two-reelers for Vitagraph, Selig, Lubin, Balboa, and Famous Players/Paramount, former Indiana newspaper editor Will M. Ritchey is best remembered for his collaboration with Lillian Gish on the European-lensed The White Sister (1923) and Romola (1925). Like most of his contemporaries, Ritchey left screenwriting at the advent of sound.
