biography
One of the busiest supporting players in Westerns of the 1920s, bearded Whitehorse (aka Whitehorse Miles, Chief Whitehorse, or even Colonel Whitehorse) played everything from Native Americans to the heroine's father to lawmen to members of the gang. A favorite of low-budget producer/director/star Leo Maloney, Whitehorse also supported more mainstream heroes such as Tim McCoy (War Paint [1926]) and Ken Maynard (Land Beyond the Law [1927]). Despite his advancing years, Whitehorse worked mainly as a stunt man in the sound era but played Geronimo in John Ford's Stagecoach (1939), his final credited performance.
