biography
No relation to the American poet (1819-1892), white-haired character actor Walt Whitman entered films with the Triangle company in the mid-1910s after decades in various touring and stock companies. Today, Whitman is best-remembered for playing Fra Felipe in The Mark of Zorro (1920) and D'Artagnan's father in The Three Musketeers (1921). He retired in 1924.
