biography
Born in the Southern United States shortly after the end of the Civil War, Viola Allen made her stage debut at age 13 and two years later was a star. She had a long and successful career that lasted well into the motion picture era, though her only film of note was a re-creation of the stage role she had played in Marion Crawford's The White Sister.
