Val Burton on AllMovie

The multi-talented Val Burton kicked off his film career as a musical director for independent productions. In the early 1930s, Burton signed with RKO, where he penned the music and lyrics for such delightful fabrications as Phil Harris' Melody Cruise (1933) and Wheeler and Woolsey's Cockeyed Cavaliers (1934). From 1938 onward, he confined himself to screenwriting. Specializing in comedy, Val Burton worked on the scripts for most of Paramount's Henry Aldrich entries, and was one of the scriveners for the unusual Abbott and Costello vehicle The Time of Their Lives (1946) and the legendary Ronald Reagan starrer Bedtime for Bonzo (1951).
