Todd Masters on AllMovie

Todd Master's interest in monsters and horrific makeup stems from his early childhood, when he began making his own monsters in his mother's kitchen. He was 12, living in Seattle, when he got his first job working for a special effects company. In the mid-'80s, he moved to Los Angeles to work for one of Hollywood's best effects companies, Boss Films. There, Masters supervised the creation of creatures and visual effects for films such as Poltergeist 2 ( 1986) and Predator (1987). He eventually founded his own special effects house, The Todd Masters Company. There, he has overseen and created the effects for such major features as Primal Fear (1996), Tank Girl (1995), Dunston Checks In (1996), and Star Trek: First Contact (1996). Masters has also provided special effects for television series such as HBO's Tales From the Crypt and Weird Tales.
