Biography by AllMovie

Well-known for his work in visual effects, one of Tim Burke's earliest experiences was as coiffeur to the likes of Tony Danza and Judith Light in the popular television series Who's the Boss (1984-1992). Though he still dabbles in Dippity-do from time to time (TV's Ladies Man [1999]), these days Burke is more likely to be found behind a computer than wielding a bottle of hair spray. Following Who's the Boss with work as a camera operator and occasional actor, the later '90s found Burke gaining considerable momentum as a talented force in such areas as digital effects compositing and visual effects supervision. Working in television on such effect-heavy shows as The Hunger and Merlin, Burke later earned an Oscar for Best Visual Effects for his work on director Ridley Scott's Gladiator (2000) and re-teamed with Scott the next year for the continuing saga of everyone's favorite scholarly cannibal, Hannibal.
