biography
According to the French artist Paul Helleu, Rubye DeRemer (or De Remer) was America's most beautiful woman. Not surprisingly, the brunette stunner had been a Ziegfeld girl prior to entering films around 1917. Although she would grace quite a few melodramas in the 1920s, she never persuaded anyone that she could act and was mainly used for decorative purposes. Like so many of her contemporaries, DeRemer's career came to a screeching halt at the advent of talkies and her only subsequent credited appearance a mere bit in MGM's The Gorgeous Hussy (1936). She may have become an extra.
