Born Shiva Rose Gharibafshar, California native Shiva Rose has made a multitude of television and film appearances; her most notable roles include her starring part in Black Days, which was featured at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2001, and in the HBO original film 61*, under the direction of show-business veteran Billy Crystal. Rose was also lauded at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival, where she took home the award for Best Breakthrough Performance in an American Indie for her role as a refugee in exiled Kurdish director Jay Jonroy's David & Layla. Her television credits include guest spots on the noted Lifetime series Gideon's Crossing, ABC's law drama The Practice, and the popular CSI: Miami. In addition to her acting, Rose regularly volunteers for various charitable philanthropic endeavors, and was asked to serve as a spokesperson for Amnesty International's refugee program. In 1995, Rose married actor Dylan McDermott, and the couple had two children before separating in 2007.
