Biography by AllMovie

An Emmy-winning makeup artist who worked on such small-screen favorites as Batman and Bonanza and contributed to such legendary features as Planet of the Apes (1968), Rod B. Wilson gained over 200 credits after being introduced to the world of movie makeup by brother Jack, a makeup artist at MGM. Born in Marchfield, OR, in 1934, some of Wilson's earliest credits include the films Day of the Nightmare and At the End of the Rainbow (both 1965). Frequently alternating between film and television work, the increasingly prolific makeup artist gained at least two Emmy nominations before finally taking home the award for his work on television's Airwolf. Wilson would teach the art of film makeup by forming his own trade school later in life, and spent much of his free time writing and publishing poetry. On February 22, 2003, Rod B. Wilson died of natural causes at his home in Granada, CA. He was 68.
