Biography by AllMovie

Spanish filmmaker Roberto Bodegas originally studied philosophy and served in the merchant navy in Barcelona. Bodegas' involvement in cinema began in 1961 when he moved to Paris to work as an assistant director on films such as Serge Bourguignon's Les Dimanches de Ville d'Avray/Sundays and Cybele (1962) and Denys de la Patellière's Le Soleil Noir/The Black Sun (1966). Bodegas returned to Spain and in 1970 made his directorial debut with Españolas en Paris/Spanish Girls in Paris, a sensitive portrait of Spanish workers who emigrate to France. Bodegas' subsequent film work has been spotty.
