American composer Ralph Rainger, born Ralph Reichenthal, was a practicing attorney before turning to music. During the '30s and '40s, he and frequent collaborator Leo Robin were prolific writers of movie songs. Their best-known tune was Bob Hope's signature song "Thanks for the Memory" from the Big Broadcast (1938).
