biography
Welsh supporting/character actress Rachel Thomas may best be remembered for playing opposite Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in the film adaptation of Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood (1971). Thomas made her film-debut as a coal miner's wife in Proud Valley (1940) starring Paul Robeson. She subsequently specialized in playing Welsh matrons in films such as Blue Scar (1949) and The Woman Who Wouldn't Die (1964).
