Biography by AllMovie

The brother of distinguished poet and screenwriter Jacques Prévert, Pierre Prévert held several positions in French cinema. He got his start as an assistant director and worked with Cavalcanti and Renoir. Prévert made his own directorial debut in 1932 with the comedy burlesque L'Affaire est dans le Sac. His older brother wrote the slightly surreal script. Pierre and Jacques would team up to create two more burlesques, Adieu Leonard (1943) and Voyage Surprise (1947). Though both films were critically acclaimed, they were unappreciated at the box office and afterward Prévert could not find financial backers. He then turned to directing short films and television movies. Over the years, he also appeared as a supporting actor in feature films, notably in Bunuel's L'Age d'Or.
