Screenwriter, novelist, and playwright Pierre Bost began writing his first screenplays in 1942. Prior to that he had been an editor of French periodicals and had written numerous novels and plays. Bost frequently worked in conjunction with screenwriter Jean Aurenche; together the duo wrote for some of France's most distinguished directors. Bost usually wrote the dialog while Aurenche took care of the plot's continuity.
