Television producer Peter Marc Jacobson made his first foray into feature film production with The Beautician and the Beast (1997), a comedy about a sharp-tongued, flamboyant cosmetologist who is mistakenly hired as a teacher for a wealthy and handsome European monarch. The film starred his then-wife, Fran Drescher; the two had their greatest success with the CBS sitcom The Nanny (1993-1999), in which Drescher starred as a wisecracking gal from Queens who is, one day, selling door-to-door cosmetics and, the next day, finds herself taking care of a handsome British Broadway producer's children. Jacobson started out as an actor and won a Dramalogue Award for a Los Angeles production of Grease. He has guest starred on several television series, ranging from Murphy Brown to Beverly Hills 90210. In addition, Jacobson has also appeared in a few feature films, including Shining Through (1992) and Dangerous Love (1987).
