Peter Hurkos gained notoriety as a psychic during the late 1960s when he helped police solve the Tate-LaBianca murders by telling them that the man behind them was bearded and called Charlie ( who turned out to be the bearded, Charles Manson). After that Hurkos used his abilities to help find the Boston Strangler. Hurkos is said to have developed his powers after receiving a head injury during a bad fall. Hurkos penned a trio of books, and has been profiled on a number of television documentaries and specials. His work on the strangler case was recreated in the film The Boston Strangler. In 1982, Hurkos made a cameo in Box Office.
