biography
Nicknamed the "Madonna of the Movies," soulful-looking American silent screen actress Pauline Bush entered films in 1911 as a leading lady to Vitagraph star J. Warren Kerrigan. She later appeared for the newly founded Universal, where she played opposite a young Lon Chaney, and was Julie de Mortemar in director Allan Dwan's version of Bulwer Lytton's Richelieu (1914). She married Dwan in 1915 and retired, returning only for James Cruze's flapper melodrama The Enemy Sex (1924).
