Paul Cox on AllMovie

Cox began making independent short films in Australia in the mid '60s, writing and directing his first feature, Illuminations, in 1976. He hit his stride with a series of memorable, quirky dramas in the '80s, most notably Lonely Hearts, Man of Flowers, My First Wife, and Cactus. His later films include the documentary Vincent: The Life and Death of Vincent Van Gogh (1987). Cox has also acted in his The Golden Braid and Guy Maddin's Careful.
