Biography by AllMovie

Herbert I. Leeds moved from the editing room to the director's chair with 1937's Love on a Budget. During his tenure as a 20th Century-Fox staff director, Leeds churned out as many as five features per year. He labored primarily on the studio's "series" films, guiding the adventures of Charlie Chan, Mr. Moto, The Jones Family, Michael Shayne, the Cisco Kid and even the Dionne Quints. After wartime service, Leeds returned to the Fox "B" unit, and when that operation broke up in 1947, he moved on to RKO and Monogram. Herbert I. Leeds' final film was the typically low-budget Father's Wild Game (1950).
